Facial expressions are controlled by the underlying facial muscles. Through over activity these facial expressions create wrinkles, which can over time get deeper and more visible even when your face is at rest. This can result in deep lines on the forehead, between the eyebrows and around the eyes. Individuals can start to appear more aged than they are.
Botulinum toxin (Botox®) is a muscle relaxant which has been used since the 1980’s to help reduce the appearance of wrinkles and create a younger, smoother appearance to the skin. It works by blocking signals between nerves to the muscle, causing the muscle to contract less and thus temporarily paralysing the underlying muscle responsible for the wrinkles. This results in a smoother, younger appearance.
A thorough consultation is carried out to assess your concerns and deem you suitable for treatment. Treatment time takes only 15-30 minutes. Results are evident from 3-14 days after treatment. A review is arranged 3 weeks after placement to assess the results and provide any top-ups if necessary. The effects are not permanent and on average last 3-6 months. Over time, patients tend to require less frequent treatment as the effects last longer.
Dermal fillers such as Juvederm are used as an effective treatment for deep lines and wrinkles. They can help reduce deep lines and wrinkles, fill hollows and smooth the contours of your face. Anti-ageing facial fillers are the non-surgical way to achieve younger looking skin and provide volume for tired lines and wrinkles.
As your skin ages, it loses the collagen that helps shape and support it. Natural lines and wrinkles deepen. Sun exposure, smoking, air pollution and even stress can all age your appearance. The face can also begin to lose volume giving sunken cheeks and a ‘dragged down’ appearance.
